Please post ideas for Plymouth 2009!

Alrighty people, we need as many ideas as we can get. Feel free the edit the heck out of this site so we can get moving for this summer. I think I speak for all of us when I say we want it to be badass. It seems the general reporting of the news will be the same as the previous years, so let's start thinking about what we'll do for the smaller "shows" and the overall theme of the news. Please add to the lists below with ideas you would be interested in doing. Good luck with the rest of the school year and thanks for all the help and hard work!

General Theme for The News:

  • Old Sitcoms
  • Star Wars or John Williams movies, a different movie theme each week
  • Use the 'old computer look' - like the green blinking dash on the screen
  • John Stewart or SNL style news
  • Napoleon Dynamite - I love technology

Theme Song: (we need a song to play when we do our expo of each other during the news)
  • If I Didn't Have You - Randy Newman
  • With a Little Help From My Friends - Beatles
  • Melt With You - Modern English
  • This is the Day - The The

Reoccurring Pieces:
  • Movie Review of the week
  • Useless tech download of the week - like how to put Christmas lights on your desktop, etc.
  • What we'll miss about Plymouth
  • Top Ten List
  • Jay Walking - like on Leno
  • Pranks a la "The Office". EX: stapler in jello, desk moved into the bathroom, personal belongings in vending machine, etc.
  • Music video spoofs (maybe something w/ flight of the conchords?)
  • I want to do a Sopranos rip off, kind of like The Office rip off from last year - Doug
  • Gilligan's Island mini show
  • Tech Tips:
  • Cleaning up your desktop
  • Benny hill style ending to the news.
  • Class bios from around the world but with similar style, clothing, phases or something. How about how many miles to this point... Born new york, to Oklahoma -TUrkey-Germany=Turkey=Naples=Bahrain and 3x to Pllymouth
    • I like it! :)
  • Scratch the news and do a movie each week instead (Musical, Star Wars, Old Sitcoms)-if this is something we are going to go with, we need to coordinate it so that we can bring props for our filming.
    • Marissa: I think that we should continue the MAET tradition and keep on with the news. It's one of my favorite parts of the week.
  • Send around a "Flat Sparty" and everyone take photos of themselves or others with it at places they visit.
If you want to do this - we could all print out Sparty. Anybody have a good Sparty image to use?.
Here's an image we could use for the news for the piece
Other Segment Ideas:
(hey gang, since the motto of our year is inclusion, I thought that we could develop some segments where we would include years 1 and 2 into our skits)
  • High fashion in Plymouth-Leyna? and Jason?-they can walk around the city critiquing or commenting on fashion
  • Possible Punk'ed/hidden camera scenarios
  • (more to come-have to run now. . . class)
Bring 2 keychains- give out at graduaation to Leigh and (was Nick) now.... new guy - This way we share the world, cultural differences and they are light weight, easy to carry and something different. we can use them in skits until graduation... victoria
